310S grade is a steel comprising of low concentration of carbon. Stainless steel 310S alloy is made of 25% chromium and 20% nickel that make it widely resistant to oxidation and corrosion.

Grade 310S stainless steel (1.4845) is one of the most widely used grades of heat resistant stainless steel supplied into numerous industry sectors. Stainless Steel 310 Plates is part of the austenitic family of stainless steel. Types 310 have very good drawability and excellent corrosion resistance in chemical, textile, petroleum and food industry exposure. No. 4 polished surface is a non-reflective brushed finish obtained by course grinding followed by finishing with a 120-150 mesh abrasive. This general purpose bright finish has a visible grain to prevent mirror reflection. Polished surfaces are easy to clean, ensuring a minimum foothold for dirt, bacteria and corrosive substances.

310S stainless steel (1.4845) has excellent corrosion resistance at normal temperatures but is primarily designed to perform at high temperatures. In these high temperature environments, 310S (1.4845) maintains very good corrosion resistance and also has exceptional resistance to; oxidizing and carburizing atmospheres and other forms of hot corrosion, up to a maximum dry air service temperature of 1100ºC. Other corrosive compounds such as water and sulphur compounds will significantly reduce the maximum service temperature.

These grades contain 25% chromium and 20% nickel, making them highly resistant to oxidation and corrosion. Grade 310 is a lower carbon version, less prone to embrittlement and sensitisation in service. The high chromium and medium nickel content make these steels capable for applications in reducing sulphur atmospheres containing H2S. They are widely used in moderately carburising atmospheres, as encountered in petrochemical environments.
